Claude PAYCO payments — subscriptions in the iPhone app, and Claude API and Claude Code on the Korean-won checkout page

Whether you can pay for Claude with PAYCO depends on where the payment is made. claude.ai의 Pro·Max 웹 구독은 신용·직불카드만 받고, API를 직접 결제하는 Claude Console도 카드로 결제하며, Anthropic은 PayPal 같은 제3자 결제 처리업체를 받지 않는다고 안내합니다(Billing FAQ·Payment-method information, October 3, 2026 확인). iPhone 앱에서 구독하면 Apple이 결제를 처리하는데, Apple의 한국 결제 수단 목록에 PAYCO가 있습니다(Apple, 2026년 8월 6일 게시). Claude API와 클로드 코드(API 키 방식)는 Kunavo를 거치면 PAYCO로 충전할 수 있습니다. Stripe 결제 화면이 원화(₩)로 표시될 때 PAYCO가 선택지로 나오고, Prepaid from $10로 충전하며 잔액은 만료되지 않습니다. 다만 PAYCO 충전은 매번 직접 해야 합니다. Stripe가 PAYCO를 일회성 결제로만 지원해서 자동 충전에는 쓸 수 없습니다.

Can you pay for Claude with PAYCO?

Even when the payment is described as “paying for Claude,” the accepted methods differ depending on who receives the money. For comparison, ChatGPT and OpenAI API are included as well.

The key point in the table is that PAYCO is not listed among ChatGPT web payment methods, but it is listed among Apple's Korean payment methods. Even domestic payment methods are accepted by different services, which is why the question “KakaoPay and Naver Pay work, but what about PAYCO?” arises separately. Kunavo in the final route is an independent gateway—not Anthropic or OpenAI—that provides their models through an API. A Kunavo balance topped up with PAYCO can be used only for Claude API, Claude Code run with an API key, and GPT API usage fees. It cannot pay for a claude.ai subscription, Anthropic Console credits, ChatGPT Plus, or OpenAI credits. The payment information is based on October 3, 2026. What PAYCO payment is—and what matters in this route

Stripe's PAYCO documentation divides PAYCO payments into two categories based on limits: payments made with a card linked to PAYCO, and payments made from a balance preloaded into the PAYCO account (stored value, called PAYCO Points in PAYCO). Stripe sets different limits for the two.

• When paying with a linked card: no maximum amount under Stripe. Stripe는 PAYCO에 연결한 카드로 결제하는 경우(card passthrough)에는 최대 금액이 없다고 안내합니다(Stripe PAYCO documentation, October 3, 2026 확인). 카드 자체의 한도는 그대로 적용됩니다.
• PAYCO Points: top up to a maximum of 2 million won. 같은 Stripe 문서는 PAYCO 계정에 충전해 둘 수 있는 잔액(stored value)을 최대 2 million won으로 적고 있습니다. PAYCO는 포인트를 1원에 1포인트로 충전해 현금처럼 쓰는 결제 수단이라고 소개하고, 계좌·무통장 입금·휴대폰 결제·컬처랜드·티머니·PAYCO 상품권·PayPal로 충전할 수 있다고 안내합니다(PAYCO Points information, October 3, 2026 확인).
• PAYCO Points’ ‘automatic top-up’ is different from Kunavo automatic top-up. PAYCO는 결제할 때 포인트가 모자라면 연결 계좌에서 1만 P 단위로 채우는 기능을 안내합니다(PAYCO Points information). 이것은 PAYCO 지갑 안의 일이고, Kunavo 잔액이 떨어졌을 때 자동으로 충전되게 하는 기능은 아닙니다(아래 ‘한도와 PAYCO만의 제약’ 참고).
• The minimum amount is unaffected. Stripe의 PAYCO 최소 결제 금액은 100원이라(Stripe PAYCO documentation), 최소 충전액 $10에는 걸리지 않습니다.
• Authentication. PAYCO 앱 소개에 따르면 결제 비밀번호 대신 Face ID를 쓸 수 있습니다(App Store PAYCO app information, October 3, 2026 확인).

We have not confirmed, based on Kunavo's payment screen, which sources (linked card or points) appear in the PAYCO payment window. Whether a card blocked from international payments is approved when linked to PAYCO may also depend on the card issuer's settings. If it is blocked, use the ‘domestic card’ option on the won payment screen.

How to top up Kunavo with PAYCO

You need the PAYCO app on your phone (payment password or Face ID), a card linked to PAYCO or preloaded PAYCO Points, and the minimum top-up of $10. Your Kunavo balance decreases only as used, with no monthly fee, remains available without an expiration date, and is not deducted for failed requests. Claude Haiku 4.5 for lighter tasks costs $0.70 per 1M input tokens, so $10 is sufficient for trying it for the first time.

1. Create an account

Create an account with a Google account or email on the sign-up page. Since PAYCO is selected when you top up, you do not need to open the PAYCO app at this stage.

2. Choose a tier based on the source you will use to pay with PAYCO

The top-up tiers on the Billing screen are $10, $100, $1,000, $5,000, and larger tiers receive bonuses ($100 충전 시 잔액 $110, $1,000 충전 시 잔액 $1,200, $5,000 충전 시 잔액 $6,250). The tiers are listed in dollars, but the amount compared with the PAYCO limit is the won amount on the next screen. If you plan to pay with PAYCO Points, choose from $10·$100·$1,000. $5,000 exceeds 2 million won in Korean won and can be paid only with a card linked to PAYCO. New accounts may have larger tiers locked until the first payment is confirmed, so for the first PAYCO payment it is faster to try $10.

3. Confirm that the payment screen is in Korean won (₩) and select PAYCO

버튼을 누르면 Stripe 결제 화면으로 넘어갑니다. 4. Authorize in PAYCO

PAYCO를 고르면 Stripe의 국내 처리 파트너 화면으로 넘어가 PAYCO로 결제를 인증·승인한 뒤 다시 돌아옵니다. Stripe의 PAYCO 문서는 이 거래가 NICEPAY를 통해 처리된다고 적고 있습니다(Stripe PAYCO documentation, October 3, 2026 확인). 로그인과 인증 방식, 고를 수 있는 재원은 PAYCO 쪽 화면을 따릅니다.

5. Return and reconcile the balance with your PAYCO payment history

After PAYCO authorization completes and you return to Kunavo, check the balance and top-up ledger on the Billing screen, and confirm that the same transaction appears in the PAYCO app's payment history. If the balance update is delayed, check by refreshing; do not authorize the payment again in PAYCO. Authorizing twice creates two top-ups.

6. Create a key and connect it to Claude Code

Create a key beginning with sk-kn- in API Keys. An example of testing the key with one line of curl is in Complete guide to paying for Claude. To run Claude Code using the balance topped up with PAYCO instead of a Pro or Max login, enter the Kunavo address and key and pin the model.

Limits and PAYCO-specific restrictions

• One-time payments only—automatic top-up unavailable. Stripe Checkout은 PAYCO를 결제(payment) 모드에서만 지원하고, 결제 정보를 저장하는 설정(setup) 모드와 구독(subscription) 모드는 지원하지 않습니다(Stripe PAYCO documentation). Kunavo의 자동 충전은 애초에 저장한 카드나 Link로만 켤 수 있으니, PAYCO 충전은 잔액이 필요할 때마다 직접 합니다.
• PAYCO Points are limited to 2 million won. The $10·$100·$1,000 tier can be paid with points, but the won amount for the $5,000 tier exceeds 2 million won, so it cannot be paid using PAYCO Points alone. Pay with a card linked to PAYCO or use another payment method, such as a domestic or international-payment card.
• Linked cards are limited by the card limit. Stripe has no upper limit, but authorization may be declined if the card's limit or the card issuer's settings are exceeded.
• Because the payment is in won, it includes a currency-conversion fee. Kunavo의 요금과 충전 단계는 달러로 정해져 있고, Stripe가 보여 주는 원화 금액에는 2~4%의 환전 수수료가 들어 있습니다(Stripe Adaptive Pricing documentation, October 3, 2026 확인). 달러로 내면 이 수수료는 없지만 PAYCO는 선택지에서 사라집니다.

The absence of automatic top-up also means that calls stop with 402 insufficient_quota as soon as the balance reaches zero. If you run a long task with Claude Code, preload enough through PAYCO or save a separate card for automatic top-up.

When PAYCO is missing or payment fails

• PAYCO is not in the payment-method list. First check the currency symbol next to the amount. If it is $, the payment is not in won and the PAYCO button is not added. Stripe determines the currency from your access location, so turn off any overseas VPN and press the top-up button again on the Billing screen. If you selected $ manually, switch back to ₩ and PAYCO will reappear.
• PAYCO authentication was canceled or authorization failed. Stripe의 PAYCO 문서는 테스트 결제 설명에서, 승인이 실패한 결제가 완료되지 않고 새 결제 수단을 받는 상태(requires_payment_method)로 돌아간다고 적고 있습니다(Stripe PAYCO documentation, October 3, 2026 확인). 결제가 완료되지 않았다면 잔액은 충전되지 않으니, 같은 결제 화면에서 다른 수단을 고르거나 PAYCO로 한 번만 다시 시도하세요. 다시 시도하기 전에 결제(Billing) 화면에서 잔액이 이미 들어오지 않았는지 확인하세요. 짧은 시간에 결제를 여러 번 시도하면 Kunavo가 보안상 몇 시간 동안 새 충전을 받지 않습니다.
• The large amount was declined. If you paid with PAYCO Points, check the 2 million won limit; if you paid with a linked card, check the card limit. If this is before your first payment, start with a smaller tier.
• To use another payment method. 같은 원화 결제 화면에 카카오페이, Naver Pay, Samsung Pay(Stripe 기준 한 번에 2 million won까지, Stripe Samsung Pay documentation, October 3, 2026 확인), Domestic cards가 있고, 카드·Apple Pay·Google Pay·Link는 통화와 관계없이 쓸 수 있습니다. 네이버페이는 PAYCO와 달리 Stripe 한국 결제 수단 표에서 정기 결제 ‘예’로 적혀 있지만(Stripe Korean payment guidance), Kunavo의 자동 충전은 어느 간편결제와도 연결되지 않습니다. 수단을 한 표로 비교한 글은 Complete guide to Claude payment methods입니다.
• Methods Kunavo does not accept. Toss Pay, bank transfers, and mobile-phone payments are not available on Kunavo's payment screen.

Refunds and records

• Kunavo's policy. Amounts used for API calls are not refundable. Remaining balances do not expire; if you close the account, the balance is refunded to the original payment method, PAYCO, after payment fees are deducted (Terms of Use, Section 2). For other cases, such as duplicate top-ups, request a case-by-case review at support@kunavo.com; by default, we return the amount to your Kunavo balance, and we can issue a Stripe refund on request (billing documentation).
• Stripe's deadline and exchange rate. 한국 결제 수단으로 낸 결제는 결제일로부터 365일 안에만 환불할 수 있습니다(Stripe Korean payment guidance, October 3, 2026 확인). 원화로 낸 결제가 환불될 때는 원래 결제와 같은 환율이 적용됩니다(Stripe Adaptive Pricing documentation).
• Where it returns within PAYCO. We have not confirmed whether the refund returns to the linked card or to PAYCO Points, or how many days it takes; this depends on PAYCO's processing. Check the PAYCO app's payment history.
• Documentation. Kunavo does not issue tax invoices, cash receipts, or invoices. Top-up records remain in the ledger on the Billing screen, and payment records remain in the PAYCO app's payment history.
