Claude KakaoPay payments — how to pay for the Claude API and Claude Code with Naver Pay or domestic cards

Claude Kakao Pay payments depend on what you are paying for. Anthropic에 직접 내는 claude.ai Pro·Max 웹 구독은 신용·직불카드만 받고, Claude Console도 카드로 결제하며, Anthropic은 PayPal 같은 제3자 결제 서비스를 받지 않는다고 안내합니다(Billing FAQ·Payment-method information, October 3, 2026 확인). iPhone·안드로이드 앱에서 구독하면 App Store·Google Play가 결제를 처리하고, Apple의 한국 결제 수단 목록에는 카카오페이가 있습니다(Apple, 2026년 8월 6일 게시). Claude API와 클로드 코드(API 키 방식)는 Kunavo를 거치면 카카오페이·네이버페이·PAYCO·삼성페이·국내 카드로 결제할 수 있습니다. Stripe 결제 화면이 원화(₩)로 표시될 때 이 다섯 가지가 선택지로 나오고, $10부터 선불로 충전하며 잔액은 만료되지 않습니다. 토스페이·계좌이체·휴대폰 결제는 Kunavo에서 받지 않습니다.

• claude.ai web subscription (Pro·Max): Kakao Pay unavailable. Anthropic은 웹에서 산 구독에는 신용카드 또는 직불카드만 받는다고 안내합니다(Billing FAQ, October 3, 2026 확인). 국내 체크카드는 직불카드에 해당하지만, 카드사 설정에서 해외 결제가 열려 있어야 합니다.
• App subscription (iPhone·Android): available as a store payment method. 앱에서 구독하면 App Store나 Google Play가 결제를 처리하고, 쓸 수 있는 결제 수단도 스토어가 정합니다(Billing FAQ). Apple의 한국 목록에는 카카오페이·Naver Pay·PAYCO·Toss Pay가 있습니다(Apple payment methods list, 2026년 8월 6일 게시). Google Play는 카카오페이를 ‘앱과 디지털 콘텐츠’ 구매 수단으로 적어 두었으니, 안드로이드에서는 구독 결제 화면에 뜨는지 확인하세요(Google Play payment methods, October 3, 2026 확인).
• Claude API·Claude Code (API key): available through Kunavo. Kunavo is an independent API gateway for using Claude and GPT with one key and one prepaid balance. When the Stripe payment page is displayed in KRW, Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, PAYCO, Samsung Pay, and domestic cards appear as options, while cards (Visa·Mastercard·American Express·JCB·UnionPay), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link remain available. These methods are for topping up your Kunavo balance and cannot be used to pay for claude.ai subscriptions or Anthropic Console.

구독과 API는 별개 상품이라 Pro·Max를 구독해도 API 사용은 포함되지 않습니다(Anthropic guidance). 이 글의 결제 수단 정보는 October 4, 2026 기준이며, 근거 문서를 옆에 달았습니다. 바로 시작하려면 Sign up for Kunavo한 뒤 결제 화면에서 카카오페이를 고르면 됩니다.

Payment methods at a glance (as of October 2026)

“Available” means that the method was confirmed as accepted in official documentation or on the payment page; “unavailable” means that it is absent from the list of accepted payment methods. In the Kunavo column, domestic easy-payment methods and domestic cards appear as options when Stripe displays the payment page in KRW.

Top up Claude API with Kakao Pay through Kunavo

You need an email address (or Google account), a Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, PAYCO, or Samsung Pay account or a domestic card, and the minimum top-up amount $10. This is a prepaid balance with no subscription or monthly fee, and the balance never expires. If you are only trying it out, $10 will last a long time. Claude Haiku 4.5 costs $0.70 per 1M input tokens.

1. Sign up

Sign up through the Kunavo sign-up page using a Google account or email login link. You are not asked for a card or payment method when signing up.

2. Choose a top-up amount

On the dashboard’s Billing page, choose a top-up tier. The tiers are $10, $100, $1,000, $5,000, and larger tiers include bonuses ($100 충전 시 잔액 $110, $1,000 충전 시 잔액 $1,200, $5,000 충전 시 잔액 $6,250). Amounts are displayed in dollars; the KRW conversion is performed on the next screen. Larger tiers may be blocked until your first payment is confirmed, so start with the smallest tier.

3. Confirm that the payment page is in Korean won (₩) and choose a method

버튼을 누르면 Stripe 결제 화면으로 넘어갑니다. Stripe는 결제하는 사람의 위치에 따라 현지 통화로 금액을 보여 주므로(Stripe documentation), 한국에서 열면 원화 금액과 함께 Kakao Pay·Naver Pay·PAYCO·Samsung Pay·domestic card가 결제 수단 목록에 나옵니다. 카드와 Link, Safari·iPhone의 Apple Pay, Google Pay를 설정한 Chrome·안드로이드의 Google Pay도 같은 화면에 있습니다. 금액이 달러로 보이면 아래 ‘결제가 안 될 때’를 확인하세요.

4. Approve in the wallet or card app

수단을 고르면 카카오페이·네이버페이 같은 결제사의 결제 화면으로 넘어가고, 그 앱에서 인증해 결제를 마칩니다. 국내 카드는 카드 번호를 직접 넣는 대신 카드사를 고르고 카드사 앱에서 인증합니다(Stripe Korean payment guidance, October 3, 2026 확인). Stripe에 따르면 네이버페이는 네이버페이 포인트로도 낼 수 있습니다(Stripe Naver Pay documentation).

5. Check your balance

Once the payment is approved, your balance is topped up. If it does not appear immediately, refresh the Billing page to check, and do not pay again before then. The top-up record remains in the ledger on the same page.

6. Create an API key and make your first call

Create a key on the API Keys page. It starts with sk-kn- and is shown only once immediately after creation, so copy it right away. You can set a monthly usage limit for each key; calls exceeding the limit are rejected without charge. Because the endpoint is OpenAI-compatible, you can verify it with a single curl command.

To use the same balance in Claude Code, you only need six lines of environment variables. Because it runs with an API key rather than a subscription login, usage fees are deducted from the balance topped up with Kakao Pay.

claude

Currency-conversion fee — pay in KRW or USD?

Kunavo의 요금과 충전 단계는 달러(USD)로 정해져 있고, Stripe가 결제 화면에서 원화로 바꿔 보여 줍니다. Stripe 안내에 따르면 이 환율은 24시간 보장되고, 원화 금액에는 2~4%의 환전 수수료가 들어 있습니다(Stripe Adaptive Pricing documentation·Stripe support FAQ, October 3, 2026 확인).

• When paying in KRW, you can use Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, PAYCO, Samsung Pay, and domestic cards. The amount includes a 2–4% currency-conversion fee.
• When paying in dollars, there is no currency-conversion fee. Instead, domestic easy-payment methods and domestic cards disappear from the options, and you pay with an international-payment card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Link; your card issuer’s exchange rate and international transaction fee may apply separately.

어느 쪽이 싼지는 쓰는 카드의 해외 결제 수수료에 따라 다르지만, 국내 간편결제나 국내 카드를 쓰려면 원화를 골라야 합니다. Stripe 안내에 따르면 원화로 낸 결제가 환불될 때는 원래 결제와 같은 환율이 적용돼 낸 원화 금액 그대로 돌아오고(Stripe Adaptive Pricing documentation), 한국 결제 수단의 환불은 결제일로부터 365일 안에만 진행할 수 있습니다(Stripe Korean payment guidance). Kunavo의 환불 원칙은 Payment documentation를 따릅니다.

Limits and points to know

• Samsung Pay supports up to 2 million won per transaction. Stripe 기준 삼성페이 결제는 100원부터 2 million won까지입니다(Stripe Samsung Pay documentation).
• Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, and PAYCO depend on the payment funding source. Stripe는 지갑에 연결한 카드로 낼 때는 최대 금액이 없고, 지갑에 충전해 두는 잔액(머니)은 2 million won까지라고 안내합니다(KakaoPay·Naver Pay·PAYCO 문서, October 3, 2026 확인).
• Check the KRW amount before choosing a method for larger tiers. The KRW amount of the largest top-up tier ($5,000) exceeds 2 million won, so you must pay with an easy-payment method linked to a card, a domestic card, or an international-payment card rather than Samsung Pay or a wallet balance.
• Automatic top-ups work only with cards or Link. The feature that automatically tops up your balance when it falls below a threshold can be enabled only with a saved card or Link. Easy-payment and domestic-card top-ups must be performed manually each time.
• They appear only on the KRW payment page. If a VPN makes it appear that you are connecting from another country, a different currency is displayed and domestic methods disappear.
• Methods not accepted: Kunavo does not accept Toss Pay, PayPal, account transfers, mobile-phone payments, LINE Pay, or cash.
• Documentation: Kunavo does not issue tax invoices, cash receipts, or invoices. Top-up records remain in the ledger on the Billing page, and payment records remain in the wallet or card app.
• First payment and repeated attempts. Larger tiers may be blocked until the first payment is confirmed, and if payment attempts are concentrated within a short period, new top-ups are paused for several hours for security reasons.
• These are API charges, not a subscription. The balance is deducted by token, and it does not pay for a claude.ai Pro or Max subscription. Failed requests (4xx·5xx) are not charged, and when the balance reaches 0, calls are rejected with 402 insufficient_quota.

Subscribing on the web (claude.ai)

claude.ai에서 설정 → 청구 → ‘플랜 업그레이드’ → ‘Pro 플랜 받기’를 누르고, 월간·연간을 고른 뒤 결제 정보를 넣고 ‘구독’을 누르면 끝입니다(Subscription guide). 웹 구독은 신용카드나 직불카드만 받습니다. 계약 상대는 미국 회사인 Anthropic, PBC이고(Consumer Terms of Service), 카드사 설정에서 해외 온라인 결제가 막혀 있으면 거절될 수 있습니다. Pro는 미국 기준 월 $20이고, 지원 지역에서는 현지 통화로 가격이 매겨집니다(Pro plan guide, September 23, 2026 확인).

Subscribing in the app (iPhone / Android)

앱에서 구독하면 App Store나 Google Play가 결제를 처리하고, 결제 수단과 영수증도 스토어 계정에서 관리합니다(Billing FAQ, October 3, 2026 확인). 한국 App Store의 Claude 앱 정보에는 앱 내 구입으로 Claude Pro 월간 ₩33,000·연간 ₩349,000, Max 5x 월간 ₩199,000, Max 20x 월간 ₩449,000이 올라 있었습니다(App Store, September 23, 2026 확인). 앱으로 구독하면 달라지는 점이 있습니다.

• Refund procedures vary by store. iPhone에서 낸 구독료는 Apple만 환불할 수 있고, 안드로이드에서 낸 구독료는 Anthropic 지원팀이 환불 대상인지 확인합니다(Refund guide). Anthropic은 앱 구독에 청구서를 발급하지 않습니다(Pro / Max billing guide).
• Usage credits are enabled on the web. 한도를 넘겨 계속 쓰는 ‘사용 크레딧’은 앱 구독자도 웹에서만 켤 수 있고, 켜기 전에 웹에 결제 수단을 따로 등록해야 합니다(Usage credits guide). 요금은 표준 API 요율이며, 한도에 걸린 순간 무엇을 고를지는 Claude Pro limit에 정리했습니다.

If you cancel within 7 days of subscribing

Anthropic 소비자 이용약관(2025년 10월 8일 시행)은 한국 거주자에게 웹 구독 후 7일 안에 이유를 밝히지 않고 취소할 권리를 두고, 받은 금액을 돌려준다고 적고 있습니다. 그 7일 안에 서비스를 썼다면 취소를 알린 때까지 제공된 만큼에 비례하는 금액은 빼고 돌려줄 수 있고, 요금제를 바꾸거나 다시 구독해도 7일이 새로 시작되지 않습니다(Consumer Terms of Service, September 23, 2026 확인). 앱으로 구독했다면 스토어의 결제·환불 규정을 따릅니다.

Direct API payment — Claude Console uses cards·prepaid credits

Anthropic에 API를 직접 결제하려면 개발자 플랫폼 Claude Console(platform.claude.com)에서 설정 → 청구 → ‘크레딧 구매’로 크레딧을 먼저 삽니다. 관리자나 청구 역할이 있는 계정이어야 하고, 크레딧이 떨어지면 다시 채울 때까지 API를 호출할 수 없습니다(API usage billing guide, October 3, 2026 확인).

• Payment by card only. 셀프 서비스 Enterprise 플랜과 월간 청구 API 계정만 ACH 은행 송금도 쓸 수 있고, PayPal 같은 제3자 결제 서비스는 받지 않습니다(Payment-method information).
• Expires after one year; non-refundable. 크레딧은 API·플레이그라운드·Claude Code 사용에 쓰이고, 구매일로부터 1년 뒤 만료되며 연장되지 않고, 구매는 환불되지 않습니다(API usage billing guide, Credit terms).
• Failed requests are not charged. However, if a request that was succeeding is interrupted on the client side or times out, that request is charged. Automatic top-ups are also available to replenish the balance automatically when it falls below a threshold.
• Taxes are based on the billing address. 결제 수단의 청구 주소로 세금이 계산됩니다(Billing address and tax calculation). 크레딧을 살 때마다 영수증이 오고 설정 → 청구 → 청구서 기록에서 내려받습니다(API billing guide).

When payment does not work

When paying with an international-payment card (Anthropic or Kunavo dollar payment)

Anthropic은 카드가 거절돼도 발급 은행에서 구체적인 사유를 받지 못한다고 밝힙니다(Payment-method information). 원인은 카드 쪽 설정부터 찾아야 합니다.

1. International payments are blocked. 롯데카드의 ‘해외이용 안심설정’은 해외 온라인·오프라인 거래를 차단하는 서비스이고(Lotte Card), KB국민카드는 해외 결제 전에 ‘해외거래정지’ 등록 여부를 확인하라고 안내합니다(KB Kookmin Card overseas use FAQ). 카드사 앱에서 해외 결제를 허용한 뒤 다시 시도하세요.
2. It is a domestic-only card without an international brand. At overseas merchants, you can use only domestic/international cards bearing an international-brand logo such as Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Amex, or UnionPay (KB Kookmin Card overseas-use FAQ). With Kunavo, you can also choose “Domestic card” or an easy-payment method on the KRW payment page.
3. Payment with an international-payment card in a KRW amount was declined. 해외원화결제(DCC) 차단을 켜 둔 카드는 해외 가맹점에서 원화로 결제하면 승인이 거절됩니다. KB국민카드는 결제 통화를 달러(USD)로 바꿔 다시 결제하거나 차단을 잠시 풀라고 안내합니다(KB’s view).
4. The billing address differs from the address registered with the card issuer. Anthropic은 결제 수단의 청구 주소가 카드 발급 국가와 일치해야 하고, 3D Secure 인증 창이 뜨면 끝까지 완료해야 한다고 안내합니다(Payment-method information). 미국 주소로 바꾸라는 팁은 권하지 않습니다. 청구 주소가 세금 계산을 정하기 때문입니다(Billing address and tax calculation).
5. The “Buy credits” button in Console is disabled. 2026년 4월 국내 사용자 글과 7월 일본 개발자 글은 ‘배송 주소와 청구 주소가 동일’ 체크를 풀었더니 배송 주소의 도시(한국)나 도도부현(일본) 선택 칸이 비어 있었고, 그 칸을 직접 고르자 버튼이 활성화됐다고 보고했습니다(backtodev, DevelopersIO). 한국에서 세금 금액이 ‘$--’로 계산되지 않은 채 버튼이 잠겼다는 사례도 있습니다(GitHub issue). 모두 사용자 보고이며 Anthropic의 공식 해설은 아닙니다.

On Kunavo’s KRW payment page

• Kakao Pay and similar methods do not appear. Confirm that the amount is displayed in KRW (₩). Turn off any VPN connecting through another country, restart the top-up from the Billing page, and switch the currency back to KRW if you changed it to dollars.
• The wallet or card app did not open or stopped during approval. First check whether the balance has been added on the Billing page, then try again only once. If it still does not work, pay with a domestic card or an international-payment card.
• A large amount was declined. If your first payment has not yet been confirmed, start with a smaller tier; if you are using Samsung Pay or a wallet balance, check the 2 million won limit.
• You tried several times in succession. If payment attempts are concentrated within a short period, Kunavo pauses new top-ups for several hours for security reasons. Wait and make one payment at a time.
