Estimate only. The real cost of media work is iteration — the render you ship is rarely the first, and every attempt that succeeds is billed even when you discard it. Failed requests are not billed.

Two billing shapes, and why that breaks most estimates

Video models do not price the same way, and a calculator that assumes they do is wrong for half of them. Per-clip models charge once per generated video — resolution moves the rate, length does not, so a long clip is free relative to a short one. Per-second models charge by duration, so length is the dominant term and a headline rate tells you very little.

That is why the form above changes when you change the model: it asks for a clip length only when the catalog says length is billed. Comparing a per-clip model to a per-second one on headline rate alone produces a number that is wrong in whichever direction your clips are long or short.

The lever nobody puts in a calculator

Iteration. The render you ship is rarely the first, and every attempt that succeeds is billed even when you discard it — a prompt tweak, a different seed, a changed aspect ratio. On real projects that multiple is larger than the difference between two models, which is why picking a cheap model to draft on matters more than picking the cheapest model overall.

Failed requests are not billed here, so the multiple to apply is attempts-per-keeper rather than attempts-per-success. Take the monthly figure above and multiply.

Where the rates come from

Every rate is read from the model catalog when this page renders — the same source the pricing table and the model pages read — and where the provider publishes a list price the comparison column shows it. Where one is not recorded, the column is omitted rather than filled with an estimate: this site has shipped a wrong “official price” anchor once before and removing it cost more than never having it.

Text models bill in a different unit entirely, so they have their own calculator rather than a shared one with a filter on it.

FAQ

How much does AI video generation cost?

It depends on which of two billing shapes the model uses, and that is the thing most estimates get wrong. Per-clip models such as Veo charge a fixed price per generated video with resolution moving the rate, so a ten-second clip and a five-second clip cost the same. Per-second models such as Seedance and Wan charge by duration, so length is the dominant lever. This calculator reads the billing unit from the catalog for each of the 8 video models and only asks for a duration where duration changes the price.

Why do two video models with similar prices give very different totals?

Because one is priced per clip and the other per second. A per-second model that looks cheap at its headline rate becomes expensive on long clips, while a per-clip model is indifferent to length and therefore cheaper the longer you generate. Comparing the two on headline rate alone is meaningless — set your real clip length above and compare the per-video column instead.

Does resolution change what AI video costs?

Yes, and it is usually the second-largest lever after billing shape. The catalog prices each resolution tier separately — 720p, 1080p and 4K on the Veo tiers, and equivalent steps on the others — so generating at 4K by default when the output is going into a web player or a social crop is paying for pixels that get thrown away. Change the tier above and the monthly figure moves immediately.

Is this AI video cost calculator free?

Yes. It runs in the browser, needs no signup and no API key, and nothing you type is uploaded. Rates are read live from the Kunavo model catalog and, where the provider publishes one, each model is shown next to its own list price so the comparison is checkable rather than asserted. Where no published list price is recorded, no comparison column is shown at all — an invented anchor would be worse than none.

Why is my real video bill higher than this estimate?

Iteration, almost always. The render you ship is rarely the first one: prompt changes, seed changes and aspect-ratio changes each produce a billed generation, and a realistic project is several attempts per usable output. Multiply the monthly figure by your own attempts-per-keeper ratio to get something closer to an invoice. Requests that fail outright are not billed, but a generation that succeeded and that you discarded is.

Can I price images and music with this too?

This page covers video. Images and music bill per output as well but on their own rates, and the levers differ enough — resolution and edit passes for images, song length for music — that mixing them into one form makes all three worse. The per-image rates and what moves them are on the Nano Banana Pro pricing page, and the full table across every model is on the pricing page.
