Windsurf pricing: Devin plans, legacy prices, and extra usage

Budget the subscription, purchased usage, and any separate API client. Distinguish new Devin plans from the price your existing Windsurf account retains.

Last reviewed on .

Windsurf pricing now points to Devin Desktop: Free is $0, Pro is $20 per month, and Max is $200 per month for new individual accounts. Existing $15 Pro subscribers can retain their grandfathered price. Paid plans can incur additional model-usage charges, so the useful budget is subscription plus extra usage, with any separate API accounts counted alongside it.

Windsurf's pricing URL now opens Devin pricing. The official transition FAQ says the June 2, 2026 rebrand preserves existing plans and settings. Seeing the Devin name does not mean every old Windsurf account has been moved onto the same new contract.

How much usage does Pro include?

There is no reliable conversion from a subscription into a fixed number of completed coding tasks. The selected model, context size, and continued conversation all affect consumption. A short edit and an investigation across many files can draw very different amounts from the allowance.

The self-serve billing documentation specifies daily and weekly quotas for Pro, while Max has a larger weekly allowance without a daily cap. Check the account meter for your remaining amount and reset time. General pricing summaries still describe daily/weekly resets broadly; use the rules displayed for your actual plan.

For a trial, choose three recurring tasks: a small edit, a bug fix, and a larger investigation. Record consumption after each. This gives you a useful budget for your repository without pretending that one person's message count predicts another's allowance.

Extra usage and a Pro-versus-Max budget

The extra-usage rules price purchased capacity at the selected model's API list rate. Speed or priority settings can increase that cost. Reaching the included quota therefore does not make additional work free; it moves the budget decision to purchased usage.

Illustrative monthSubscriptionExtra usage consumedTotal before tax
Pro stays within its allowance$20$0$20
Pro with occasional extra work$20$35$55
Max stays within its allowance$200$0$200

These are hypothetical charges, not measured task costs or equal-capacity plans. If your observed extra usage is $35, moving from $20 Pro to $200 Max adds $145 to that month's modeled cost. Max may still be useful for its larger allowance and usage cadence; a single interruption is not enough to establish that it is cheaper.

Purchased credits are prepaid under the current billing rules. Consumption and cash paid can therefore differ in a month. Inspect auto-reload before budgeting: a purchased balance left unused is still cash you have paid.

Teams pricing needs a checkout check

Two official pages currently disagree. The pricing page presents an $80 team plan plus $40 per full developer seat. The billing guide describes an $80 minimum and shows two full seats totaling $80. Confirm the seat quote in checkout or with your account team before ordering; this guide does not choose one conflicting total for your budget.

The billing guide distinguishes full seats, which include Desktop access, from flex seats using shared on-demand credit. A free flex seat is therefore not automatically a free Desktop license. Existing Windsurf Teams agreements require a separate check.

Can API billing cover the work instead?

First decide whether you need more of Devin's built-in agent or simply another way to run a coding task. Devin documents third-party ACP agents for Pro, Max, and Teams, including OpenCode. Those agents have separate billing. ACP support does not mean an arbitrary API base URL can replace Devin Local or Tab.

For a straightforward provider route, run Cline or OpenCode with its documented configuration. At Kunavo's live catalog rates, Claude Sonnet 4.6 lists $1.20 per million input tokens and $6.00 per million output tokens. A hypothetical 200,000 uncached input tokens plus 12,000 output tokens has a catalog estimate of $0.312. This is token arithmetic for that separate client, not a measured Windsurf task or a guaranteed final bill.

Kunavo's catalog amount is a billing floor: when the upstream reports its charge, the bill is the greater of catalog cost and upstream cost multiplied by the applicable markup; otherwise chat usage bills at catalog cost. The minimum top-up is $10 in prepaid credit, not a task fee or monthly subscription. Cache charges and external tools are excluded from this example. See billing details.

Compare Cline API providers, then follow the Cline setup or OpenCode integration. Create a Kunavo account when you choose that separate route. If you are choosing an IDE instead, Windsurf vs Cursor compares the workflows and billing cycles.

FAQ

How much does Windsurf cost now?

Windsurf is now Devin Desktop. Current individual plans list Free at $0, Pro at $20 per month, and Max at $200 per month. Some existing Windsurf accounts retain grandfathered prices. Purchased extra usage is separate from the subscription.

Do existing Windsurf Pro users keep the $15 price?

The official quota-migration documentation says existing $15-per-month Pro subscribers keep that price indefinitely. It also preserves the old $30-per-developer Teams price for eligible subscribers. Check your account before cancelling or changing an existing plan.

Does Windsurf still include 500 monthly credits?

Do not use an old prompt-credit count to budget a current self-serve plan. Current plans use model-usage allowances and purchased extra capacity. Legacy enterprise contracts can have different terms; the allowance and reset shown in your own account determine your available usage.

Can I buy Kunavo credit instead of upgrading Windsurf?

You can choose a separate supported agent such as Cline or OpenCode and configure Kunavo for its model usage. Kunavo credit does not refill Devin Desktop's allowance or unlock its paid features. Keep any editor subscription and the separate API bill in your total budget.
