Qoder bills in credits, and its own documentation now pins their value: Pro's $20 buys 2,000 credits worth $20 of premium-model use, so a credit is about one cent — and about 1.3 cents from a $20, 1,500-credit pack. Qoder also publishes how many credits each kind of request uses, so every mode has a dollar price. The other half of the decision is your own API key: requests on it use no credits at all, on every Qoder surface, including the Free plan — with one exception, Repo Wiki. The plans
| Plan | Price | Credits a month | Per credit | What else it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | None; basic models with limited messages | — | Limited completions and next edits; bring your own key; a one-time 14-day Pro trial with 300 credits |
| Pro | $20 a month | 2,000 | $0.010 | More completions; Quest, Repo Wiki, Knowledge Card |
| Pro+ | $60 a month | 6,000 | $0.010 | More completions; Quest, Repo Wiki, Knowledge Card |
| Ultra | $200 a month | 20,000 | $0.010 | More completions; Quest, Repo Wiki, Knowledge Card |
| Credit Pack (Pro and up) | $20, one-time | 1,500, valid one month | $0.0133 | Stackable; not refundable |
From Qoder's pricing documentation, which says a paid plan's quota "covers premium model resources equivalent in value to your subscription fee", plus any bonus credits. Plan credits reset to zero when the period ends; a pack expires a month after purchase; the soonest-expiring credits go first. Teams and Enterprise plans are priced on their own page and are not covered here.
What each kind of request costs
| Mode | Credits, 50K context | Credits, 200K context | On plan credits | On pack credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Editor — Ask mode | ~3 | ~4 per request | $0.04 | $0.05 |
| Editor — Agent mode | ~7 | ~12 per request | $0.12 | $0.16 |
| Qoder — Agent mode | — | ~50 per request | $0.50 | $0.67 |
| Quest — Agent mode | — | ~50 per request | $0.50 | $0.67 |
| Quest — Experts mode | — | ~75 per request | $0.75 | $1.00 |
| Knowledge — Repo Wiki | — | ~50 per repository | $0.50 | $0.67 |
Credits are Qoder's published medians, which it labels estimates that vary with the model and the tokens used; dollar columns use the 200K figure. Failed requests deduct nothing. In plan terms, Pro's 2,000 credits are about 40 agent requests in the standalone app or Quest, or about 166 editor Agent requests at 200K. When credits run out you drop to basic models with a daily limit rather than being cut off.
Your own key: which surface takes what
| Surface | Who can use a key | Providers |
|---|---|---|
| Qoder, the standalone desktop app | Not restricted on its custom-models page | Preset providers including OpenAI, Google and OpenRouter, plus Custom "OpenAI Compatible" and "Anthropic Compatible" with any Base URL |
| Qoder IDE | "Users with Individuals plans" | Six presets only: Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, DeepSeek, Z.ai, Kimi, MiniMax, Xiaomi MIMO — no Base URL field |
| Qoder CLI | "Individual plan" | Whatever the account's live BYOK catalogue offers in /model → Custom; Qoder warns against hand-editing settings.json |
On all three, custom-model fees go straight to your provider and use no Qoder credits. Repo Wiki is the exception everywhere: it runs on a fixed model and consumes credits — about 50 per repository — whatever your chat model is, with a prompt before it does. Pages: standalone app, IDE, CLI.
Three ways to pay, and when each wins
| Setup | Qoder bill | Provider bill | What you give up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free plus your own key | $0 | Every request, per token | Quest, Repo Wiki and Knowledge Card; completions and next edits are limited |
| A plan on credits only | $20, $60 or $200 a month, plus packs | $0 | Choice of model — the credit catalogue is Qoder's — and headroom once credits reset or run out |
| A plan, with heavy agent work on your own key | The plan | The requests you route to it | Nothing on paper, but the plan is now paying for features rather than inference — worth it only if you use Quest, Repo Wiki or the fuller completions |
For the own-key rows, a request's price is the provider's token rate times the tokens it moves — which Qoder's credit table does not tell you. As arithmetic, not a measured Qoder request: one agent turn that sends 200,000 input tokens and receives 12,000 output tokens costs $0.18 on Claude Haiku 4.5 at Kunavo's $0.70 / $3.50 per million, and $0.36 on Claude Sonnet 5 at Kunavo's $1.40 / $7.00 per million. Set that against about $0.50 for a 50-credit agent request on Pro credits. The comparison only holds if both models finish the job in a similar number of turns, which only your own runs can show: a model that needs three attempts costs more than a dearer one that needs one.
Adding Kunavo as the key
Only the standalone Qoder desktop app can reach an arbitrary endpoint: Settings → Models → + Add → Provider → Custom → OpenAI Compatible or Anthropic Compatible, Base URL https://api.kunavo.com/v1 for the OpenAI type, then Model IDs typed by hand. The field-by-field version is on Kunavo's Qoder setup page. Kunavo bills per token from a prepaid balance with a $10 minimum top-up and no subscription (billing), at live catalog rates, where the catalog amount is a billing floor rather than a cap. Nobody at Kunavo has run Qoder against its endpoint; check the first request's charge in your usage log.
FAQ
How much does Qoder cost?
As of October 1, 2026 Qoder's pricing documentation lists Free at no charge, Pro at $20 a month with 2,000 credits, Pro+ at $60 with 6,000 and Ultra at $200 with 20,000, and says each paid plan's credits cover premium-model usage equal in value to the fee — about one cent a credit. Pro, Pro+ and Ultra subscribers can add Credit Packs at $20 for 1,500 credits, valid one month and not refundable. Teams and Enterprise are priced separately. Free includes limited completions, basic models with limited messages, bring-your-own-key, and a one-time 14-day Pro trial with 300 credits.
How many credits does a Qoder request use?
Qoder publishes medians, not a rate: about 3 credits for an Ask request in the editor at a 50K context window and 4 at 200K; 7 and 12 for an editor Agent request; about 50 for an Agent request in the standalone Qoder app or in Quest at 200K; about 75 for Quest's Experts mode; and about 50 per repository for Repo Wiki. Actual deductions depend on the model and the input and output tokens, and failed requests deduct nothing. At a cent a credit, a 50-credit agent request is about $0.50, so Pro's 2,000 credits are roughly 40 of those.
Does bringing my own API key save Qoder credits?
Yes, for the requests it carries. All three of Qoder's custom-model pages — the standalone desktop app, Qoder IDE and Qoder CLI — say custom-model fees are billed directly to your provider account and do not use Qoder credits. The exception is Repo Wiki, which uses a fixed model and consumes credits even when your chat runs on your own key; Qoder shows a prompt before it does. Which providers you can use differs by surface: only the standalone app takes an arbitrary Base URL.
Can I use Qoder for free with my own key?
Largely. Qoder's pricing table lists Bring Your Own Key among the Free plan's features, and custom-model requests use no credits, so the Qoder side of the bill can be zero while your provider bills the tokens. What Free does not include is Quest, Repo Wiki and Knowledge Card, which the table lists on paid plans only, and completions and next-edit suggestions are limited. The IDE and CLI custom-model pages restrict BYOK to Individual plans, so it is not available on Teams accounts there.
What happens when Qoder credits run out?
You drop to basic models, which have their own daily limit; once that is used you wait for the next day. To keep premium models you can upgrade — the old subscription ends immediately and Qoder refunds the remaining value of its credits — or buy a Credit Pack. Plan credits reset to zero at the end of each subscription period, packs expire a month after purchase, and the soonest-expiring credits are always spent first.
Read on October 1, 2026: docs.qoder.com's pricing and credits pages and the custom-model pages for the standalone Qoder app, Qoder IDE and Qoder CLI. qoder.com/pricing renders its cards in the browser, so the documentation's table is the source quoted. Nothing was bought or run; per-request credit figures are Qoder's medians and every own-key figure is arithmetic on published rates. Qoder CN, formerly Lingma, is a separate product with its own prices.
