It is not possible to pay Anthropic for the Claude API without a card: its Help Center says it accepts credit and debit cards and does not accept PayPal or Venmo. To use Claude without a credit card, top up a Kunavo balance with Link, Apple Pay, or Google Pay — from $10, with no subscription. Claude on Kunavo costs 30% less than Anthropic's list price, and the same key works with the OpenAI SDK and the native Messages API.
What Anthropic accepts
Why your card is declined
The same article lists the most common reasons a payment fails:
- the card's billing location is not on Anthropic's list;
- the billing address does not match the one on file with your bank;
- 3D Secure verification was not completed;
- the payment method is not one Anthropic accepts;
- insufficient funds;
- a temporary technical issue.
If none of those fixes it, or you simply do not have a card that works for international payments, the route below does not depend on one.

Frequently asked questions
Can you use the Claude API without a credit card?
When paying Anthropic directly, no: its Help Center says it accepts credit and debit cards for all purchases. The same Claude models are also sold through payment gateways that accept other methods. Kunavo sells Claude through a prepaid balance, starting at $10, topped up with a card, Link, Apple Pay, or Google Pay and, without any card, with ACH bank debit or Cash App Pay when paying from the United States, or with stablecoins for payments in U.S. dollars. Pay by Bank is offered only to payers from the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Finland, not Spain. Bizum and OXXO are not offered.
Does Claude accept PayPal?
No. Anthropic's help center says it does not accept third-party payment processors such as PayPal or Venmo. Kunavo does not accept PayPal either; the methods it does accept are listed in the table on this page.
Why is Claude declining my card?
Anthropic lists six causes: an unsupported billing location, a billing address that does not match the one on file with your bank, incomplete 3D Secure verification, an unsupported payment method, insufficient funds, and temporary technical issues. The fixes are to check the list of supported locations, enter the address exactly as your bank has it, complete the 3D Secure step, try another card, or ask the issuing bank why it declined the charge.
What is the minimum payment?
$10 on Kunavo, as a one-time prepaid top-up with no subscription. The balance does not expire and failed requests are not charged. In Anthropic Console, API credits are also prepaid, but expire one year after purchase and are nonrefundable.
Does the same balance work for GPT models?
Yes. One Kunavo balance and key cover Claude, GPT, and the image, video, and music models in the catalog, so anyone without a working OpenAI card can also use GPT with the same top-up.
